Adding to the list of command models for my upcoming Kickstarter is the new Torch bearer/ standard bearer. This model is a blatent homage to the wonderful Minifigs models of yester-yore. He'll be one of my standard bearers for my upcoming Triumph of Death minis line, and dear to my heart as an Iconic skelly.
My new armored command modelis based upon the Holbein woodblock "Death and the knight" After doing a couple of concepts with him holding a lance, I opted for the flamberge sweihander.
One question I've been getting asked is about scale. Here's a shot next to the old and venerable Minifigs Valley of the Four Winds model, which were the inspiration for this line.
For more pics and scale shots against other lines, march on over to my blog skullandcrown.blogspot.com Cheers and thanks for looking! Thomas |

Those are some classic old school style sculpts. Old School here meaning Renaissance. I love how they look like they stepped out of a Holbein painting. Is the officer's armor based on historical designs? |
Skull and Crown | 06 Feb 2017 10:59 p.m. PST |
144artist- Yes, it is based off of a period woodcut called the knight and death by Holbein.
Most of the designs are inspired by Holbein, Durer, and Breugel- although the standard bearer with torch is a full on homage to the Minifigs model of yore. Cheers Ths |

I would buy a vignette of that woodcut! These are great! |

badger22- very happy to hear it! thanks Dave Crowell- That very idea is on my list of "things I want to make" as well. The original set of sculpts were going to be vignettes based upon the Totentanz, but then I figured it would be more fun to have hordes of undead chasing down some Landsknechts. Stay tuned, more to come soon. Cheers Ths skullandcrown.blogspot.com |
