I am pleased to announce that the theme for the 2017 Good, Bad and Ugly Tournament is ALIEN INVASION! (cue the scary space music)

Alien is defined as NOT OF THIS WORLD, but the invasions may be at any time period, or may even be an Earth invasion of another world, or an alien invasion of another world.

Some suggestion sources for creating armies might be High Crusade, War of the Worlds, Aliens vs. Cowboys, Dune, John Carter of Mars, Harry Turtledove's World War series, Screamers, Star Trek, Star wars, or you can create your own army. Remember, you can do either aliens or earthlings.

This sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun to make up armies. I have been thinking about Doctor Who and the Daleks or Cybermen. I like the Day the Earth stood still, Michael Renne version, but the whole alien side is a magician And a Behemoth

By the way note that the Midwest leg is Midwest United States.

Terry, is the timeframe of this year's event still November?

I have been thinking for our local group version I might ask the people to create "historical pairs."Most of the alien invasions of the United States, or earth in general were against World War II to present day modern armies so that side is pretty easy to do. What if everybody took that side of the option. Therefore if a player does one human army side and one alien side it can be managed like a DBA Pairs game. To expand of this, a player can bring any pair, one alien invader, and one indigenous army.

The problem is this needs 4 games to provide best matching, play twice with your own and twice with opponents.

Excellent theme, I'm really looking forward to this one.

Bob, The time frame is till he fall, so anywhere in that time works. I believe Tim is going to have to run he Staines Leg in September due to conflicts of dates, but that still works.

Would be great if we could see matched pairs, but am not sure how many folks would be keen to do two armies. If yu are able to do so I will be very interested in how it goes.

Ivan, thnaks for the comment. I too think this is going to be a good theme this year and has lots of fun opportunities.

Terry
