Hello all, I just completed another minor conversion: Perry Austrian Napoleonic Grenzers into Hungarian Grenzers, 1848-49:
For the curious, there's a bit more on my blog: link Best, Ed M |

I've enjoyed following your project. Is a "chocolate box army" an army small enough to fit in a chocolate box? Are your units 2 stands? What rules are you using? Thanks. |

Thanks, gents, The questions in reverse order: What rules are you using? I'm working on a set of rules that will be sort of DBA-like, stand-based (# of figs doesn't matter), with a small unit count, an army list/builder approach with some national flavor and unique unit qualities, somewhat generic to the era (having said that), and quick play. I've put the cart before the horse, of course, and have built and painted forces while I'm still working on the rules, which I'll be playtesting this spring now that I've got the figures together. In the last post on the below TMP thread I give a bit more information on the project: TMP link Are your units 2 stands? Yes. I went with 2 stands in order to be able to reflect some basic formations (line vs column). Artillery will be one stand. Cavalry and Jagers will be two stands as well, but able to operate as individual stands. Is a "chocolate box army" an army small enough to fit in a chocolate box? The working name reflects the idea of capturing the idea of the post-napoloenic, pre-khaki armies, the sort of thing that you see on confection tins and such (a few illustrations below):
I'll be posting updates on my blog and intend to share the rules once they're in shape to do so.
Best, Ed M |
