I am looking for information or photos of M8 Greyhound armored cars used by the Spanish Legion in the Sahara. One source stated that they were used until Jan 66 and then replaced with Panhards. Any help would be appreciated. While surfing I did come across this photo of M8's of the 2nd REI taken in 1965. The M8's seem to have been modified by adding a large caliber weapon to the rear of the turret. Any ideas what the weapon is?

It's an M2 .50 caliber machine gun, pointing straight up and with an ammo box mounted on the left side. Mike Bunkermeister Creek Bunker Talk blog |

Thanks everyone. At first I thought it was an M2 but scale threw me off. I didn't realized the M8 was that small. |

The Navy considers the Ma Deuce to be a small weapon. And it is, compared to an Oerlikon 20mm or Bushmaster 25mm/30mm. |
