Title announced for Ep VIII coming out on DEC 15 of this year.

Winston Smith23 Jan 2017 11:04 a.m. PST

I bet it's not Luke but someone else. The title is a trap!

teboj1723 Jan 2017 11:16 a.m. PST

As others have said "Jedi" can be plural.

Ghostrunner23 Jan 2017 12:02 p.m. PST

It's possible they are referring to Luke, but only in the sense that at one point, he was 'The Last Jedi'.

Dynaman878923 Jan 2017 12:04 p.m. PST

But episode IX…

Hah,this sort of reminds me of a popular trope/weasel from the first half of the 20th century--lots of books, films, etc. with a "king" in the title: "King of the Khyber Rifles", "King of the Rocketmen", "Sky King" --all of which turned out to feature a guy named King.

Well, keep in mind that Episode VI was originally titled "Revenge of the Jedi". Things can change.

Episode ix: 7 sith brides for 7 jedi brothers!

thorr66623 Jan 2017 2:24 p.m. PST

Episode x: 2 banthas for night sister sara!

Could be the name of a bar…

Come to think of it, that would be a great name for a bar, a bar with games…

Their whole numbering scheme is bonkers.

I see this new one as Episode IX, unless they're counting the last one as Episode 3.9.

The Beast Rampant23 Jan 2017 3:14 p.m. PST

That was why it was subtitled "A Star Wars Story". Because it didn't follow the greater story arc of the "numbered" films.

boy wundyr x23 Jan 2017 4:42 p.m. PST

Yeah, the three "Star Wars Story" films are outside the trilogy of trilogies.

Be interesting to see what 2021 brings when they are done the current plan, given profits to date, they could do the Avengers model and just keep rolling, or take a break if the market seems to have gotten tired. I guess it will depend on what the last couple of movies look and feel like, tired or with some new directions to go in with the Story movies. I could see young Han Solo or the rumoured Fett story offering follow-up opportunities.

Really looking forward to this. As long as the pictures are near as good as the last two, when 2021 comes around I'll keep watching whatever the SW movie-of-the-year is.

vs. Darth Sho'Nuff

Ivan DBA24 Jan 2017 6:49 p.m. PST

The numbering is chronological, not bonkers. Rogue 1 would be episode 3.5 if it was in the numbered sequence, but it's not. Otherwise, it's very straightforward. Prequels are 1 – 3, original trilogy is 4-6, and the sequel trilogy starts with Force Awakens at 7.

Intriguing.

I expect that it will be Luke training the jedi noob in order for her to take on her father (Ezra Bridger) , though nobody will tell her its her father till shes hanging over bottomless pit with a hand missing (big "NOOOOOOOOOO!") followed by a quick trip to rescue her mum (Sabine?) to get the rest of her back story.

then ep.IX there will be superduper weapon with the not-emperor in command and the noob will have to go and turn Ezra back to the light, and then Ezra will throw Darth-whatsisname down a well.
