I had a forced break from most of my miniatures gaming and painting and have only recently gotten back into clearing off a whole lot of minis that have been sitting around for almost six months.

Here's a link to my blog entry

Six months isn't hanging around: it's just determing your place in line. I've got unpainted lead in the garage older than some TMP members.

Almost 6 months? I'd consider that recent…

Exactly. Six months is fresh. To take a random example, I have some Falklands war figures bought in 1987, just 5 years after the war, which are still waiting to be undercoated 30 years on. So they have gone from ultra-modern to historical without leaving their shelf.

I agree about the early Warlord plastic weapons. Replaced mine with TAG metal ones too.

Well I've only been into collecting and painting my own miniatures for six or seven years now. I've also moved twice in the past 15 years and each time I've gone through and tossed/sold things that I haven't used. I'm in the process of moving my mother in with me now and I'm going through a large purge of unused stuff. I bought a membership here just to use the marketplace. Minis won't last 30 years in the package around here.

I firmly believe that wargamers and roleplayers suffer from a form of hoarding that is much less harmful then the stuff on TV shows. We seem to think that we should keep things becuase we'll play that game again some day and we'll regret not having the books or minis. But when I was looking at moving boxes of RPGs that I had moved into an attic twelve years before, I decided I didn't need to keep them around.
