Great stuff guys, good collection.

You should know that some of your Union flags are back to front and others are plain wrong for the period.

You wouldn't have your AWI flags with 50 stars on them, would you?

That looked to be a great game!

Many thanks for your comments.

Hi Jim. For the most part bought sets of flags which say they are for the Crimea or that period. In the worst case I have used a graphics package to make flags akin to those on google, that probably accounts for one that may be back to front! If you have any reliable sources I would be most grateful. Some flags ranges around are just too (28mm) big for the S range and I don't want to the replace the S range 'telegraph poles' with large pieces of wire if I can avoid it. I suppose I could buy, copy and reduce them as a last resort.

Jim – what a howler, just realised the Guards flag – one of my graphic efforts is the wrong Union flag!!!!!!!It will be changed tomorrow. Should have gone to Specsavers!

Hi Alan

Don't worry too much about the Union flag being upside down. There are many in the UK who couldn't tell otherwise and I don't mean recent immigrants.

This is the Union flag the correct way round.

picture

Notice the diagonals. Those next to the flagpole have the white section above the red section and both diagonals are lined with white edging. This is why the white diagonal looks wider whereas it is the same width as the red diagonal.

The diagonals away from the flagpole have the red diagonal above the white diagonal but still both lined in white edging.

The white diagonal (St Andrew) represents Scotland and the red diagonal (St Patrick) represents Northern Ireland. Both are distinct countries within the United Kingdom.

The central red cross (St George) represents England which is another country in the United Kingdom.

Wales is the fourth member of the United Kingdom and is not represented at all.

This double image should help.

Your cat looks like someone I'd like to know! Hope he didn't interfere with your game too much, although he appears to be a real gentleman.

Your Minifigs S Range figures also look truly beautiful.

Very nice. Those old Minifigs are quite jolly aren't they.

@JimDuncanUK
You know its the first time I 'realy' looked tt the flag of the UK.
At quick glance I always 'saw' the red 'strips or "X" if you will, as always being above the white for the upper half of the flag, and below the white for the lower half.

Amazing the things you 'see' time and again.. and yet really DONT See It.
