Yes, the Tuaregs wore blue and some black too and very tough opponents for the Legion. I do this period with 18mm Blue Moon figs, they are great and cover anything I would want. Good luck on your project. |

Catherine, if you haven't already, you might want to read Conquest of the Sahara by Douglas Porch – lots of wonderful inspiration there for Tuareg gaming! It and its companion volume, Conquest of Morocco, are brilliant reads. |

Years ago, National Geographic magazine did an article on Tuaregs, and the photos make it clear the blue did fade. My approach was to paint some dark blue, then highlight. Then I moved on to the next batch, using the highlight color as the base, and highlighting with a lighter blue, then mixing them together for a non-uniform look. On the NW Frontier, the Waziri tribe wore blue tunics/robes, while other tribes wore blue turbans. Grelber |

I did a mix of Tauregs and Bedouins – initially because that's what Minifigs had. Many more choices nowadays though. Sample pic:

Yup! There's some Essex Crusade range figures in the collection too. TSATF had stats for spear armed Arabs so … |

Those are very nice arabs there. Do you know the code of the Minifigs Assassins? I'd like to get some but am not able to find them on their page. |
