Did you do all of these? (in reference to the display stand in the living room)

Do you mean as a hobby, or regarding quality? If the second, they are usually too polite to say anything!

Only a few non playing people have seen them but most including my dentist thought it was a good job. Took cavalry in to show him as he has horses

Fellow club member who does some custom work said they were nice, but gave me a 6 on my Armenian AX. Thought they'd be better if I jazzed up the shields.

Passing ancients gamer at a con also gave my Palmyrans a nice as he walked to his table.

A non-gaming friend of my sister-in-law thought they were pretty.

Haven't really trotted them out in other venues for comment.

Otherwise as a topic in conversation they are treated as just another odd hobby.

Several have opined that I need help. I'd like to think they meant I need help finishing all my unpainted figures.

A friend paints professionally (as in he makes his living painting figures) and I occasionally do some work for him. When we were talking about me taking on commissions from him, I brought him the finest sample of my work – my 15mm WWII infantry. He literally opened the box, glanced in, said "Oh, I see you paint all the unnecessary details," closed the box and went about whatever it was he was doing. A while later he examined them more carefully and was impressed with the work, but yes, I do paint all the unnecessary details.

Oh, I see your children are helping you paint!
