Easterling Kataphrakts are certainly the best looking. Is that what the question was asking? Also, those Warmachine wolf riders. Ex-Vendel wolf riders are quite nice, as are those from Otherworld.

Knights of Poitain with Conan I leading the charge. Go with the classic. But aesthetics is largely a matter of taste and "best" in the tactical sense depends on rules and all those pesky little things like terrain, opposition and--oh yes, the rest of the army.

Still in print? My vote goes to Maidenhead Miniatures Wooly Rhino rider with nods to their Centyrs, Terror Bird and Sabertooth Cat riders as well. OOP? Life isn't complete w/o someone mentioning DragonTooth /(Tom Loback)'s genius: I maintain 'The War between the Saurian Empire and the Amphibian Confederation' line was the high-water mark of Fantasy innovation: everything since then (cough-coughGW Lizardmencough-cough )has merely been refining the concepts. link PDF link
