One close-up of a unit of Der Kriegspieler orcs with poleaxes. The mass unit shot shows one unit of each pose available in packs 1004, 1005, and 1006.

I'm impressed you have that many straight and unbroken poleaxes. |

I've got a bunch more that weren't so lucky . . . Some of these were broken, but repaired by drilling them out and pinning them. An epically-thankless task. |

Based off the Tim Kirk paintings. Some of the very first I painted (mine were Black Hand) |

That is AWESOME! I have some of them mixed in with my Heritage Orcs. Love these figs! Thanks, John |

Really nice job, especially when you consider how bad some of those old casting can be. |

I rode down lots of orcs and goblins back in the day using my Byzantine army, but none of them ever looked even half that good. |

That wasn't a Hinchcliffe Byzantine army was it? Was it used at the Tin Soldier? I sold a painted (mostly) 25mm Byzantine army at the store way back then. |

You did a great job there Lucius! |

I have a 24 figure unit each of the bows and the polearms that were painted by a friend over 30 years ago. He used a different paint scheme, but they remain among my favorite fantasy figures. I too removed the polearms an redid them using piano wire and drilling into the heads. Unfortunately I was not able to preserve the rope bindings. I'd love to get 24 figures each of the spear and sword, but I haven't found Peabody and Sherman's WayBack Machine so I could do so. |

Ah, back when orcs were real orcs and not some satyrday morning cartoon ripoff… |

John, I painted it and sold it; I didn't buy it. |

Oh Man that is wonderful!! The polearm orcs you have there were the first pack of lead figures I ever bought in my life, some time around 1978 I think. The Squadron shop at the corner of rt64 and 83 in Illinois. I was going there to get Airfix figures but my buddy Bruce and I never made it past the giant Heritage display at the front of the store. It was loaded with the whole LOTR range. We were 15 years old and hopelessly hooked. Ahh the memories. Paul |

It's a treat to see these old figures painted so nicely, thanks! |

They're still available from Michael Thomas at Classic Miniatures. |
