The problem with that analysis is that the Putin method of stirring internal dissent and using Little Green Men is now well understood and NATO would react accordingly.

Nice article. I concur with Stu. Nato has studied the hybrid warfare Russia utilized in Ukraine and will be ready next time.

The article neglected geopolitics though. Russia wants to undermine Nato because Nato is part of the western hegemony and liberal world order that weakens Russia's regional power status. Russia has no interest in being part of this US-led globalist world order because it could only play a minor role in it. It wants to lead its own competing order as an "equal" to the US.

The same goes for China. Superpowers (or wannabe superpowers) simply do not settle for playing second fiddle.
