I had bought the HaT Spanish Guerilla set knowing that a large percentage of these figures could work equally well as militia. The only unifying feature of this lot is the top hat, which is probably not so far from the truth. There are so many directions you can go with these – there were dozens of colourful local variations – but I've stuck with the brown cloth, which along with red cuffs, collars and lapels was the most typical. I mixed it up a bit, basing these three units on the Voluntarios of Victoria, Jaen and Girona. The command stand is made up of some of the HaT Spanish Command set with head swaps on the flag bearer and drummer (which explains the balloon-headed junior officer!) link link link |
