Lone Star Historical Miniatures (LSHM) Club – Texas USA
A group of us here in San Antonio Texas played our fist game of Over the Hills on Monday. I had picked up a copy of the rules for Christmas and Rob Gravener and I decided to try them out.
We used figures from my 28mm Old Glory collection. This first game pitted Austrians against French 1809.
We kept it pretty generic to give us a good feel of the rules mechanics. I must say it ran fairly smoothly and we enjoyed the game.
We only used the basic rule set, but were able to complete 3 full turns in about 2 hours of play.
LSHM is a Texas based game club with members throughout the state, we look forward to playing many more games and recruiting many more players for this nice set of Napoleonic Rules.
Our Austin Texas group (headed up by Francisco Erize) is also trying out the rules.

I've not seen that basing technique before – is it unique to Over The Hills or generic. I looks great by the way. Tony |

Tony, my basing process. I use 1/4" balsa and attach a "triangle" strip to the back to give it a 45 degree angle, then attach the labeling. That way you can stand above the table / bases and read the unit designation. I color code the label (yellow – Austria, blue – French, Red – British, etc…..). Makes for a very recognizable unit designation. I have gone to a base organization of: Infantry – 6 stands of 4 figures each Skirmish represented by individual figures on 1" round bases Cavalry – 4 stands of 2 figures each (light) and 4 stands of 3 figures each (heavy) Artillery – 2 stands of 3 gunners (medium) or 4 gunners (heavy). For Russia I use 3 stands to represent the larger size. |
