In October 2015 I began the building and painting of my 28mm Gangsters "& Stuff" collection. When I began collecting the pieces for this about a decade ago it was going to be a gangster collection, but over time other things began to catch my eye and the collection expanded to include Batman and a catch-all group I call the Gordon Institute for Archeology and Paranormal Study, and that group allowed me to include the Institute's version of the Ghostbusters. The gallery is huge with more than a hundred pictures, a long write-up, four 5 ft. x 7 ft. table layouts, a city of approximately 35 buildings and more than 50 vehicles, a waterfront that includes a dock that is 17 inches wide and 5 feet long holding three warehouses, a crane and a fish cannery, a freighter, two tugs, two fishing boats and three speedboats, a sewer, Wayne Manor and the Batcave, plus the Gordon Institute campus. The collection took just over a year to paint and construct, and from set-up through photographing to clean up the pictures, it took just over 25 hours to do over three days… a long weekend. I've attached a few sample pictures here. I hope you will take a look at the entire gallery when you have some time. I think you will have some fun. You can find it at warin15mm.com/28mm-Gangsters---Stuff.html.

Gangsters aren't really my thing but…holy smokes! That is some awesome terrain and an enviable collection! I'd love to play a Cthulhu pulp game on/with that. Superb. |

Thanks so much for taking the time to write. If you get a chance take a look at the whole gallery… lots of fun stuff there. I tried to post the link to the gallery with the original posting of the pictures but for some reason that didn't work so I did a second posting of the link (above) and that works just fine… really big gallery and probably some surprises; that's where the "And Stuff" comes in. Wow. That's great! I admire your perseverance in seeing such a big project through to completion and in "only" a year! You should be very proud. I'm big on ideas but lacking on the follow-through. Too easily distracted by other projects, I guess. Thanks for sharing! Craig |

Thanks for this! Headed over there now, and am sure I will have some questions for you after looking around. BWW |

Glad your enjoying it, and I hope that like Brian other TMPers will find some time to view the entire gallery… Wayne Manor, Batcave, Gordon Institute, the sewer system, Stay Puft Man and much much more. Brian, if my long write up on what went into the gallery doesn't answer a question(s), please feel free to ask. I spent a year working on this and believe me I am ready to talk about it. Richard |

Rare effort in record time to completion. Few would attempt, even fewer could finish – and probably no one do so in such a 'brief' time span. Disciplined effort well worth the time it will take to look through the gallery. |

tkdguy and Early morning writer, thanks to both of you for taking the time to write and for the generous comments. It is probably safe to say that a significant element of what drives my disciplined efforts is my own desire to see what one of these projects will actually look like if completed. Sharing the outcome of these projects and the kind words of those who enjoy the viewing is a much appreciated added gift. Richard |
