The interminable but fairly mindless job of re-basing
(See here: TMP link )
leaves me time to think about rules.
There are many AZW rule sets & all would have their strengths.
What is your favourite rule (singular)?
It can be a good historically accurate mechanism, a slick gaming one or just fun.
We sometimes use a free set (found in an old wargames' mag) by one Steve Burt.
I like the gatling gun rule:
"Gatling guns may roll as many dice (D6) as you like. However, if you roll 2 X 1s, the gun jams for 1 move (& no hits recorded). If you throw 3 X 1s the gun jams until the next turn you roll a '6'. If you roll 4 X 1s the gun jams for the rest of the game."
As you can imagine, the prudent number of dice to roll is 2-4. If you're being charged by huge numbers, sometimes you roll a bucket full….& pray.
Yours?
