I'm on the record bitching about the gummint telling me what kind of light bulbs I can buy. However, I am preferring my LEDs over my small stockpile of incandescents. They are just too dim in comparison and hotter than blazes to work under. To the extent the incandescent spurred alternate innovations I spose I am personally better off despite the added expense. Who was right – supporters or the critics of the incandescent light bulb ban? |

I should have known better than to go to this topic and expect illumination. |

Da Gubmint has no justification whatsoever telling you what the market should. At least the LED are marginally better than the curlie Q ones. |

My old house has eight vintage and antique chandeliers and candelabras. I hate the prospect of LEDs in their future. I used to work for one of the big white LED producers and did not like their spectra then either. I am stockpiling incandescents for the coming apocalypse. |

Some of the newer led bulbs have "natural color". Check the quoted CRI to be 90 or more. These bulbs I find to be superior to incandescent in all respects I hate normal CFL (Flourescent) bulbs unless they are the fancy high CRI ones I use for painting John |

I like the CFCs, but it was still none of the government's business. If "good for the environment" is sufficient justification, is there much the government CAN'T order me to do or not do? I've been exhaling a greenhouse gas (Carbon dioxide) for years now, and I'm not going to stop. That said, gentlemen--wargaming. There are other places to discuss constitutional government. |

My understanding is the IC bulbs may not be made in the US. But they are still made outside the country and imported. So, the Govt. Hasn't kept us from buying anything, yet. As for which is better for painting miniatures by. I prefer IC light. I can still get my favored product locally and at a reasonable price. So, for now, I see little to complain about. |

Incandescent bulbs are electricity-hungry, unreliable garbage. I'm happy to see them gone. |

LED lights are great. They are more expensive, sure, but they last so much longer I really don't care: the inconvenience of constantly replacing incandescent bulbs is irritating. |

I'm really surprised the EPA hasn't cracked down on the new-fangled, eco-bulbs. Apparently, if one breaks, you need a hazmat suit, and a trained hazmat spill containment team to clean up after that properly. Interestingly, no one seems to talk about that issue, or show much concern over that minor detail. |

Old light bulbs generated way too much heat. So we switched to fluorescent bulbs, which I did not like especially as they didn't last as long as advertised. So we recently switched to LEDs (the middle color). And we are now very happy. I saved some of the incandescent bulbs as I'm going to try and turn them into ACW balloons. How hard can it be???? |

My understanding is the IC bulbs may not be made in the US. But they are still made outside the country and imported. Typical. High-minded governmental meddling that also benefits someone else at our expense. Horray! Apparently, if one breaks, you need a hazmat suit, and a trained hazmat spill containment team to clean up after that properly. Interestingly, no one seems to talk about that issue, or show much concern over that minor detail. But, think of the children! No, not THOSE children, the ones over there! |

Yes now that LEDs are affordable I look for excuses to replace a room's worth of bulbs. The decorative bulb applications like chandeliers are the one place I haven't gone all out. The LED choices are almost there but not yet quite what we want to look at. |
