"Roland" is interesting because his right leg is unarmored; this is evidence for the kind of stance a foot soldier would take with his right leg behind him for balance. I am wondering if the flat bottom on the infantry shield is broken off. The riderless horses, and one awkward man between them, seem like an attempt to portray casualties. |
