Just finished these guys…Mithridaite's Skythian Bodyguard. I gave the command element Hellenistic Shields to give them a little Pontic Flavor. 1st Corp 28mm figs. More here: link

Great paint job! Not seen the figures up close but they look like some of the best first Corps in their range.

Excellent work on those, I hadn't thought of using the 1st Corps Skythian nobles this late. I know that Mithridates bore the brunt of a major incursion by the Massagetae – do you think figures like these would work for some of his opponents too? I'd like to do them at one point, but I'm thinking of using something rather different from early Sarmatian types, and these might fit the bill…

You did a great job on those. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Always on the look out for options for more Pontic cavalry – just how many does a budding Mithridates actually need? Excellent looking unit.

Mike at Relic Miniatures kindly put together his Punic heavy cavalry with some of his half armoured Seleucid Agema horses – now I just have to paint them.

I think the Skythians would work for Mithradates' opponents. I also painted some Old Glory Sarmatian Clibanari for my Pontic army:

Liking that Skythian bodyguard – what system are you using them for?

(Nice Sarmatians too!)

Cheers

Mostly Big Battle DBA, but also ADLG.

Thanks – more food for thought. I have plenty of Seleucid types who'll come in handy, I'm just struggling for appropriate cavaly.
