Below is a link to a Spanish language military forum. It includes postings of a considerable number of (rather primitive) eyewitness illustrations of the Spanish colonial volunteer and militia uniforms for units engaged against the abortive British expeditions against Buenos Aires and Montevideo in 1806 and 1807. One needs at least a basic knowledge of Spanish to read the explanatory information about unit backgrounds and organization. Many of the pictures were painted by one Justo Doldan. After opening the forum, either scroll down or do a search within the site with the key word "Doldan."
