Can anybody point to a painting guide or advice for mid 1980s Canadian infantry? Ideally vallejo colour recommendations? Cheers – Dave in Edmonton |

Combats were roughly Russian Uniform Green with a brown wash. Webbing was the same color. Helmet covers were the same as the Vietnam US Army helmet covers with the woodland camo pattern. |

Wouldn't the toques be knit in a variety of drab yarn?

During the mid-1980s, if I recall the time frame correctly, I saw a picture of some Canadian soldiers wearing white pants and dark green-brown jackets standing and kneeling under a tree with snow on the ground. It was pretty good camouflage. |

It all deoends on how old the uniforms were. I served in CF and some combats were so faded of colour.that they didn't even come close to olive drab. |

Frankss – that's what I was wondering – what is a good match for very faded OD? I was thinking Russian Uniform but I find it gets used for a lot of stuff! Toques and woodland plaid shirts – check! DC |

I use Vallejo Brown Violet 70887 with a Russian Uniform highlight. As mentioned US Vietnam or Woodland helmet cover. Webbing is similiar to brown violet. Just find something close for the contrast. |

Rob – that would be what you used on your 15mm guys? Your stuff on the Dice Devils blog is one of my inspirations. |

From what I remember about my reserve days… anything in that light olive drab range would be about right, faded a bit to the lighter side. The combat uniforms were comfy…still have mine around somewhere…. and toques, only when you needed to be warm….:) |
