I'm interested in the Marvel Universe Miniature Game and I have a ton of Heroclix gathering dust. Anyone try this game using other minis? Or do you need special cards, components etc that only come with the official minis themselves?

You can get the rules and cards at that link- look at the product data sheets under the miniature price. You need some markers but you can easily use heroclix.

Brilliant thanks Wachaza. The minis do look fantastic but I'd like to at least try the system before investing any serious money. I'll unleash my Heroclix for now

Thanks from me too – I'd assumed they'd keep the character cards a bit more hard to get hold of, as with that and the rules you can use any figures you like (as far as I can see).

thumbs up

Minis are great from a sculpting/painting angle. The only thing with the minis is they're quite big relative to 28/32mm heroic and they're difficult to assemble and keep assembled due to some bizarre part division choices. Mid arm joints rather than shoulders for example with very small attachment points.

I have so many painting projects on the go right now that I really don't want another…I recently got my Conan package with a gerzillion minis

Those unfamiliar with the Marvels game mentioned; this is a tutorial and game report that gives a decent feel for the system
