If you get the right collection of Bill Mauldin's "Willy and Joe" cartoons, there is a wine rack marked about three ways "NUR FUR OFFIZIEREN!" Willy and Joe are, of course, stuffing bottles in every available pocket. Just on the other side of a "Dutch" door, there is a German enlisted man explaining "Nein, nein! I would not think of interfering."

There's probably a skirmish/RPG game in there somewhere.

Fantagraphics published all the WWII cartoons a few years ago:

He brought smiles,or at least rueful grins, to thousands of GI's when they didn't have much else to smile about.

"Up Front", published by Mauldin during the war (1944), and his autobiography "The Brass Ring" tell of his (mis)adventures in the service and his constant battle to show the dogfaces' side of things. Robert's contribution above shows that both sides have only the highest respect for their officers and the privilege that accompanies rank. I'd continue, but my tongue is starting to piece the inside of my cheek, trying to get through.
Also, if you watch the Audie Murphy version of "Red Badge of Courage", Bill is the protagonist's best friend, Tom, the bigmouth with the corncob pipe first seen spreading a rumor to the whole unit.

"There's probably a skirmish/RPG game in there somewhere."
Yep, there is.
Right outta "kelly's Heroes", but with a cache of fine wines, schnapps, champagne, and a literal ton of hors d'oeuvres-makings (canned pate, butter, cheeses, cocktail biscuits, salamis and other dried wursts, caviar, and a few cases of good Scotch (captured from an overrun enemy HQ).

Good point my friend!.
