What a year for Combat Command – first thanks for all the kind comments and feedback (and yes a few rule questions) that people have offered over 2016. I continue to be amazed at how well the game is doing as a player first old school style effort vs. all the marketing bullies that seem to dominate the game stores.
We managed to get two major supplements out in 2016: Bagration to Berlin covering the Eastern Front from June 44 till November 1944 and Poland to Paris covering September 1939 – July 1940. The first covering a big popular era of mass battles on the Eastern front and the second covering a less done period of early war battles. Early war is a personnel favorite but required researching the obscure Dutch and Belgian armies. The new wave of early war vehicle kits makes this a great period to start a new collection using these army lists.
Some frequently asked questions:
1. Can I play in 15mm? Yes of course the popular Flames of War mounting system works fine – so if you're jaded or just want a change of pace jump in. We emphasis 20mm only because this scale is inexpensive and does not have a "standard" game to support it.
2. Can I contact the company with rule questions, suggestions or just praise? Yes – tomandkate@aol.com (and no we don't get tired of just praise…)
3. What's planned for 2017? Probably North Africa and I may also try to do late war (Bulge to Berlin).
4. How about historical scenarios for Combat Command? I've got lots of these that I have used for convention games but since there are so many great scenarios out there for platoon level games I don't generally bother publishing them. Any scenario designed for Command Decision, Spearhead or Rapid Fire can be used for Combat Command (McKenzie and Krause do great work).
5. Upcoming games? There will be Combat Command events at Siege of Augusta this weekend, NashCon (Memorial Day) and Historicon. And there is always an event each month in the metro Atlanta area.
6. How do I start a Combat Command group? We suggest just finding a friendly game store and putting on an event each month on the same general day (we use 1st Saturday). The game is easy to teach even for beginners so walk ups are fine. After a while a groups just seems to form.
7. Can I create scenarios? Yes the army lists supplements have guides for turning historical data into a playable game and if you send them to us we will play test and include in our scenario packs (which will follow the army lists) – with full credit of course.
Again thanks to everyone and Good Gaming!
