Hundvig Fezian is not a real big fan of pre-painted minis, and he positively despises randomly-packed "collectable" ones - so why is he writing this article?

As the title indicates, I am looking for a Gorilla (should be large and mean), and an alligator/crocodile in 54-60 for a 54mm version of "Congo". I suppose they could even be 70mm. It is surprising that these are not common in the 1/32 scale toy world, but I could not find any at the West Coaster Toy Soldier show, or on ebay. I have an Elastolin Lion, but would go for a more modern sculpt if available. Suggestions?

Take a look at the animals Schleich produces. They are 90mm. Some craft stores carry them, otherwise check Ebay and Amazon.

If you are really lucky, you might find some Britains Gorillas and Crocodiles on ebay or similiar. They were part of their Zoo range – 54mm. Good Luck ( I cherish mine!)

It amazes me that no manufacturer has made any African animals. There definitely is nothing of the quality made for 28mm, for instance.

Unfortunately, 90mm is probably too big up against 54mm, although the ape could be king kong perhaps.
