The book I got 3 days ago is shown on Amazon as "being delivered" 3 days from now.

Check your chrono-stabilizer for content time-shifts. That happens in shipping sometimes.

Hey, this is a great system. Use of Amazon tracking will tell you exactly how far they've missed the promised delivery date in real time. You can track a two-day ship all week sometimes.

Weasel, you didn't by any chance say "and I want it YESTERDAY!" did you? Machines are very literal-minded sometimes. (Mind you, some people are worse.)

Getting delivery before the scheduled date is a problem? Maybe someone with 2 day delivery is still waiting for that package.

Notice that they never mess up on how fast they bill you… ;-)

Sometimes the tracking goes wrong. Mostly it is right though.

Given the complexity of the operation, I am amazed it works at all.

That's nothing. This post that you are reading right now hasn't been typed yet. And won't be for 4 days!

It usually means it was a third party seller. My tracking with Prime is accurate to within 15 minutes, if fulfilled by Amazon.

… Pretty good job (NOT "perfect"!)… I've been a "Prime" member for years.

thumbs up

It usually means it was a third party seller/

Concur. The Amazon agreement explains that they can only report what they are told from third party sellers about tracking and delivery.

Thanks for the laughs guys :)

Now that I checked, it's third party so that clarifies it :-)

I will give Amazon that they are generally excellent if something goes wrong.

Fedex delivered a package to the wrong address and Amazon replaced it no questions asked.

Concur. They seem to value their customer service image way above a couple of bucks of profit for an issue with an item.

Through good service and good relations, they build a very loyal customer base.

I also have a serious primacy-halo effect about their performance, so that colours my opinion. Back when they were starting up, I ordered a big stack of books. They were waiting for me on the doorstep the next evening when I got back from work. Got that service the next couple of months, too.

I was stationed in Japan at the time. Based on their tracking data, they considered the US work day that started after I ordered and the Japan work day that started after the US workday ended to be their two days to get me my stuff.
