Whose address started "East Church St."? |
deadhead | 07 Jan 2017 12:13 p.m. PST |
Tricky without even knowing which continent…….. As a cryptic crossword fanatic, I keep wondering if "address" means a speech rather than domicile. If an address, why no number or house name to start the address? Does it mean that an address, eg the Gettysburg ad…. began something…. ECS Maybe it was not in English………. HMMMMMMM |

Good shout by SJ, there – sounds possible. Wellington's address was, famously, "1, London". |

Well there goes my theory about Lincoln and his address. Sounds like a very modern address, so hard to imagine relevance to Napoleonic Era. Marshall Ney after he escaped the firing squad, Lefebvre before he drowned on his return from USA? I hope it is someone famous or a cryptic clue |

Was it someone from Norfolk (England)? |

not to judge by the posting of 4.40pm PST above! I keep looking for cryptic clues in the address, letter patterns, anagrams, palindromes, codes…. I hope the answer does not turn out to be "mine"…… Bandit 86 I did not understand |

Minifigs back in the day when they started making Napoleonic figures? |
deadhead | 08 Jan 2017 10:32 a.m. PST |
I do hope the answer is better than that….. I imagined something really subtle and clever here……… Please, let it be something cleverer than that….. |

Sorry if you were expecting better. Minifigs sent me a package back in the '80's from Pine Plains NY. I used the box as a shoe polish kit when I was in the Navy and it still sits in the bedroom drawer with that return address. My first Napoleonic army was Minifigs 25mm Swedish and Russians, but I quickly moved to 15mm and sold off all 200 or so years ago. |

I'm not disappointed – a little bit of vintage gaming trivia there. |

Well I have "Google earthed" the address…. I have walked it on the same forum…. I have tried it in different languages. I have tried various encryptions on the postcode (is it a Zip code?). Substituting letters for numbers. Using first letters of each word…..anagrams etc. I was sure this was a really clever puzzle to solve. Sorry mate. I am, I must say, disappointed with the result, but it was a great idea for a posting for the New Year. |

…but I quickly moved to 15mm and sold off all 200 or so years ago. When I first read that, I thought you must have been Minifigs first US customer! |

I should have recognised that. I've bought hundreds of their old blister packs over the past few years. |
