Given the number of posts, is it time to split Wargaming in the UK into: Wargaming in England Wargaming in Scotland Wargaming in Wales Wargaming in Northern Ireland I've noticed a lot of Scottish posts lately. |
Northern Monkey | 06 Jan 2017 11:51 p.m. PST |
No. Definitely not needed. UK wargaming is one big community. |

You can take away our combined UK wargaming board, but you'll never take our freedom |
alexjones | 07 Jan 2017 1:08 a.m. PST |
No, no splits please! (not unless you split the US into states first). |
christot | 07 Jan 2017 2:14 a.m. PST |
No, its not that big a place, people know (and play) with folk from different "countries" If you do go ahead then I think all posts should be written in respective dialect/ regional language |

We could have leave and remain boards:) Or North and South. |

I've noticed a lot of Scottish posts lately How many in comparison to Welsh posts, Northern Ireland posts, and English posts? How do you identify them as Scottish? Where do you think Scotland actually is? No. Foolish talk. Don't try to split our Union, split your own Union instead. Otherwise, get ready … (?) is coming to breakfast

Dear Bill, I find it interesting how your OP doesn't actually provide anything factual nor is it supported by any evidence. Welcome to my world. (Tee-shirts and other merchandise Second Floor) |

One thread a day needs splitting down? This place already borders on unusable. |

How do you identify them as Scottish? By the superior quality of the posts obviously… |
Red3584 | 07 Jan 2017 4:55 a.m. PST |
Oh, and no…don't split the board. What a daft idea… |
Mako11 | 07 Jan 2017 5:13 a.m. PST |
Well, they do have silly accents, and superfluous vowels in some cases, so…….. Then again, I'd hate to have more categories I need to check/search, so, nyet. |
fantasque | 07 Jan 2017 5:17 a.m. PST |
No, no, no, no, no. That's the unanimous view as far as I can see. I do not understand the obsession with new and subdivided boards. |
Bob the Temple Builder | 07 Jan 2017 5:50 a.m. PST |
Such a split makes no sense to me. |
Giles the Zog | 07 Jan 2017 6:25 a.m. PST |
No. We have Welsh and English players at our games, and if you did split the boards, we'd have to put up with the whining of the Kernow contingent wanting their own board. |
andyfb | 07 Jan 2017 6:25 a.m. PST |
What about….. Wargaming in Southern Ireland Wargaming in the Isle of Wight Wargaming in the Channel Islands Wargaming in the Shetland islands Wargaming in Anglesey No No No No No No |
Zargon | 07 Jan 2017 6:29 a.m. PST |
I'd suggest a separate board for UK politicians so we can take the micky out of them in a wargamerly way, situation solved, Long Live the Queen. |
JSchutt | 07 Jan 2017 6:33 a.m. PST |
Leave identity politics…in politics. It is a failed concept that only promotes the dysfunctional aspects of tribalism. |
Winston Smith | 07 Jan 2017 6:35 a.m. PST |
Bill. Are you going to propose Pennsylvania Wargaming, as different from Maryland or Virginia Wargaming? I'm not the one who shouts "Too many boards!" but in this case… |
JimDuncanUK | 07 Jan 2017 6:38 a.m. PST |
I can't say I have noticed many Scottish posts recently and I am very Scottish so I think I would have noticed. I attend about 10 wargames shows a year, 5 in Scotland,4 in England and 1 in Belgium. I see many of the same faces at all these shows. So, a great big NO! |
sjwalker38 | 07 Jan 2017 7:17 a.m. PST |
Definitely not. Unless, of course, there's also separate boards for Yorkshire, Mancs and Scousers. |
foxweasel | 07 Jan 2017 7:45 a.m. PST |
I propose a separate board for Lincolnshire wargaming, we don't want polluting by those "lead belt" Robin Hoods over the river in Nottinghamshire, or the flat cap wearing, whippet racing, pigeon fancying Yorkshire tykes. Up the Poachers! |

Just did quick check on topics with entries since start of the year. 14 for UK including this one. 16 for US. So, no, don't need separate boards. |
JSchutt | 07 Jan 2017 9:53 a.m. PST |
In anticipation of "self identification" the community is welcomed to refer to me in the future (under penalty of law) as Zaphod Beeblebrox; ex-Galactic emperor (small "e"). Race – All Creed – All Gender – All Heads – Both |

That is because we are British/English/Irish/Welsh/Scottish. We may moan like crazy amongst ourselves but when johnny foreigner suggests we split up then we all stick together. Besides, the whole of UK is smaller than California, and I don't see any calls for an Orange County board. |

Made me a board for each state of the United States? |
Hafen von Schlockenberg | 07 Jan 2017 10:54 a.m. PST |
I say yes! But only if you separate by town. I'd love to see boards for Wargaming in Upton Snodsbury, Barton in the Beans, and Matching Tye. Not to mention Scratchy Bottom, and Great Snoring. I'm sure "Wargaming in Beer" would get a lot of hits. And I really want to see you trying to spell some Welsh ones. |
robert piepenbrink | 07 Jan 2017 10:57 a.m. PST |
I generally disapprove of dividing wargamers by nationality. There are so many more interesting things to fight about. I am, however, prepared to make an exception in event of actual secession: as soon as California leaves the US, I think it's entitled to its own board. |

LOOOOL. If you do honestly wish to respond to the changing face of national identity…. May I point out that the USA will require a Spanish Language board long before the UK ever requires separate national boards. |

I propose a separate board for Lincolnshire wargaming, we don't want polluting by those "lead belt" Robin Hoods over the river in Nottinghamshire, or the flat cap wearing, whippet racing, pigeon fancying Yorkshire tykes. Up the Poachers! Hear Hear!! It needs to have a spell checker though for all those Fen folk who have 6 fingers or the webbing in-between that makes typing so awkward though. |
GarrisonMiniatures | 07 Jan 2017 4:18 p.m. PST |
Oi! Norfolk and Cambridgshire have Fens as well! Though I admit not many have the extra digits or webbing that distinguishes in the Northern areas. |
