"JJ Terrement" Topic

I just wanted everyone to know that JJ is a pretty good guy.

We don't agree on much as far as science and politics is concerned, but he has always been a gentleman and a very nice person.

Doesn't mean I don't bang my head against the wall when I read his posts more often than not, but he does his best to stay polite and respectful.

He's one of the many good people here on TMP!

I've always got on with him, even when we totally disagree with each other. Which happens.

He's a good egg.

JJ is always there for me when I am having a crisis. So is Bashytubits, wrgmr1, Gert Frobe, Murphy, and several others who slip my mind at the moment.

This is a damn fine community.

Decent guy. Never had a problem with him and wasn't aware of any controversy.

Trouble is, Andrew, drawing attention to someone round here usually means that they're put on a watch-list as a potential subversive, especially if clearly well-liked.

I expect him therefore to become a non-person at TMP before the year is out. :-)

JJ is a Scholar and a Gentleman.

Agreeing with ANYONE all the time would be proof of no real relationship at all.

In trouble with the Dear Leader on occasion, but not as a function of spite or malice.

He's a respected supporter of TVAG, and I cannot wish anything too good for him.

Andrew… mon cher ami Terrement was my budy in my first jail… I always remember that… he guide me and made an stand when others (that day there were no less than 25 in jail!) want to take advantage of the Argentine new guy… (smile).

I would never forget that…

He's an interesting fellow, our JJ.

I'd have to say I disagree with much (most? all?) of his strongly held beliefs but that doesn't seem to sink to the personal.

He's never petulant or childish, never abusive. He'll actually read what you write before responding! He's an educated chap, too, and at least tries to have some valid backing to his opinions beyond the thread-bare "school of hard knocks" you so often get in internet debate.

Indeed, he's one of the vanishing breed who likes a good argument & not what passes for one far too often: a group of similarly minded cronies, backslapping.

Yeah, definitely a good guy.

If you can imagine it, there's porn of it.
If you can't imagine it,….someone else could.

JJ is an intelligent, wise, eloquent and well read fellow who is fierce in argument and focused in his views. He holds folks' feet to the fire in discussions and backs up his positions with citations and facts galore. For these reasons I enjoy reading his posts and on occasion debating with him. As a bonus, I particularly enjoy my own opinion that he is often wrong in his assertions but will fight like a cornered wolverine to defend or advance his POV. He also games in 28mm so is clearly a bit off unlike we 15mm types who game in the god's chosen scale. Well done, Terrement! I hope you continue to remain a vocal poster here, rather than succumbing to the general apathy and lethargy of some other sites. :-) We who are about to die, salute you! Vale, Parus!

I agree with all that is said. I do not agree with anything he says on the science board. But i respect his knowledge about history.

And while he is wrong, he is still a better debater then me. As I'm well aware I'm easily roused and hot headed. And I'm sadly to easily gouged into getting personal.

So he is far better at staying civil!!

Got nothing bad to say about JJ.

I do not visit the science board AT ALL, so I do not see the back and forth there unless I notice someone is in the DH and wonder why and go down that rabbit hole.

When I was laid off a few years ago, JJ was the *only* TMPer that offered (online) assistance, connecting me with his company and thought his company might/could find a place for me.

Did not quite work out, but it was welcome, encouraging assistance nonetheless.

I can remember agreeing with you before.
