Ok, so the latest WD goes on about the new sourcebook/campaign book, which is about the 13th Black crusade and the fall of Cadia – yes, it falls. It also hints at the repercussions this will cause in the 40k Universe. I'm wondering if we're going to get perhaps 1-2 years worth of more campaign stuff expanding on this, and then a new 40K based on a new universe where chaos has expanded beyond the Eye of Terror – giving us something new yet familiar enough – a bit like AOS for Warhammer. Anyone else got any ideas of even more info about the new expansion and directions the game may go? Genuinely intrigued as they do seem to be building up to an end of times type event, perhaps we'll get the re-awakening of the Emperor. |

Rumor has it that 8th edition 40k is coming this year. Supposedly simplified with some ideas taken from AOS but not an exact clone. It will be interesting to see how this shakes out. |

It looks like the 40K universe is going to end up as a parallel to the AoS universe. For good or for ill … |

"The Emperor shall rise from his throne and open his ancient can of wipe ass." Why am I picturing Hubert J. Farnsworth (professor Farnsworth) from Futurama as the emperor here…:) |

"I'm waiting for my Khorne vs Slaanesh campaign book…." I would love to see that as well. I have a large Slaaneshi 40k EC army as well as a 30k Emperor's Children army.I'm just praying they don't ditch Slaanesh all together. |

A new CSM "dex" is long overdue. This should be welcome news to Chaos players. |

I saw the writing on the wall with "The End Times", so moved to 30k last year. I don't mind revamped rules, or advancing the plot, but what they did to the Old World has soured me for a while. No matter what they do to 40k, The Emperor Protects! |

I saw the writing on the wall with "The End Times", so moved to 30k last year. I've hated the quality of the writing in almost all of the 40k campaign books they've released in the last year. Compared to the FW Horus Heresy books, the stuff the main studio produces is, in my opinion, bewilderingly bad. |

'Haven't we already had a 13th black crusade' Just double checked, page 26 latest UK WD labels it the 13th Black Crusade – guess they lost count! ;-) |

Designed to take mainly the $s, will read the fluff when mates buy the books etc, then go and play with my old miniatures using some other set of rules or even using ye old Rogue Trader rules, as long as I'm having fun I'll keep using my old figures and smile sagely when the younger uns gush about how they spent $60 USD for four plastic character figures. |

The primarchs are coming back. Allegedly starting with Robute. We'll see where it goes from there. I think that the fluff changes are going to be that there will be some sort of civil war within the Imperium as the primarchs won't be happy with the way the emperor is being venerated as a god. Of course the eclisiarchy won't be happy with the primarchs saying that he is not. Hilarity ensues. I'm looking forward to it. I've bought some of the Thousand Sons figures and once I clear some space I'll probably buy a Magnus and some more of the boys to the tune of about a 3000 pt. army. Of course this is all after I do the Fall of Prospero stuff from 30K when Inferno comes out in Feb. |

How many are able to come back? We know Ferrus died, as did the Primarch of the greatest legion, Sanguinnius. It's going to be interesting to see where they go with this. |
Pictors Studio | 06 Jan 2017 7:40 p.m. PST |
In addition to Robute they have Russ, Johnson, the Khan, Vulkan, Corax and Dorn to pull from certainly. If the Sanguinnius or Ferrus came back I'd probably nope out at that point. I'm almost like that with the Ultramarines primarch but from the very first thing I read about him (Ultramarines Codex 2nd edition) they hinted that he was getting better so I'll give them a pass on that. Then there are the traitor primarchs. Except for Horus and Kurze (and possibly Alpharius and Omegon) they all survived. So you have daemon princes Fulgrim, Angron, Mortarion, Perturabo and Lorgar. They already have a model for Magnus. Given the nature of the Alpha Legion I wouldn't be surprised if either Alpharius or Omegon or both survived somehow, so you could have them coming back too. |

The Primarchs don't bother me much, but 40k always attracted me by being on the "edge" of disaster. If we not only jump off the edge, but hit every branch on the way down, I will find the background less interesting. I still love to find useful bits for my 30k projects though! New stuff is always fun! |

I think that the fluff changes are going to be that there will be some sort of civil war within the Imperium as the primarchs won't be happy with the way the emperor is being venerated as a god. Of course the eclisiarchy won't be happy with the primarchs saying that he is not. Hilarity ensues. They've sketched some major heresy's into the background over the years so its not a bad way of inserting some ongoing story without, perhaps pushing the whole lot over the 'edge'. And it actually makes sense in terms of the cannon, the Emperor was never keen on being worshipped and the Primarch's actually knew the guy. Just suprised it took this long…. Still they're are plenty of loose ends like the Emperor as psychic beacon, the nature of Chaos and the warp, and fact that most are ignorant of it, and the mysticising of technology, which could trip up the writing of the new fluff. Also logically Emperor worship represents a signficant piece of social control in the Empire, what happens if you remove it? |
alien BLOODY HELL surfer | 07 Jan 2017 6:28 a.m. PST |
I wonder if the Alpha legion will continue to try and destroy Chaos buy helping it win, or will, if the Emperor re-awakens,fight chaos? |
Pictors Studio | 07 Jan 2017 6:47 a.m. PST |
I think you could have the Primarchs come back and basically be at the head of a new faction so you don't have to remove the social control from the Imperium. |

I think you could have the Primarchs come back and basically be at the head of a new faction so you don't have to remove the social control from the Imperium. H'mmm not sure that works, unless you split the Empire up, otherwise regardless of how good Smurfs are there are 100,000 versus potentially potentially millions of Imperial cult-loyal human soldiers? Back to Cadia, I read the fluff ages ago, it's stupid close to the Eye, but IIRC wasn't it covered in Necron pylons or some such suppressing warp activity? Would the fall of Cadia also result in a major necron incursion to reinstall their warp supression network? |

Has anyone seen the prices? link That's just crazy! Are the people at GW supporting a crack habit? |
Pictors Studio | 07 Jan 2017 10:03 p.m. PST |
You're aware that the site you linked to has the prices in New Zealand dollars right? The US prices: link are pretty reasonable. "H'mmm not sure that works, unless you split the Empire up, otherwise regardless of how good Smurfs are there are 100,000 versus potentially potentially millions of Imperial cult-loyal human soldiers?" I don't know why it wouldn't work. Probably most of the Astartes would go over to their primarch but some, especially the Grey Knights and maybe ones descended from the Iron Hands and possibly the Blood Angels, wouldn't. Also some Astra Militarium factions would probably end up being some that work closely with Space Marine forces and would side with them when the Primarchs return. I think it adds an incredibly interesting new dimension to the 40K universe. |

GW 40K "End of Times" Looks like GW is setting up 40K to be killed off just like WFB. They put out special books for WFB as well and than they killed it off. |

Also some Astra Militarium factions would probably end up being some that work closely with Space Marine forces and would side with them when the Primarchs return. Effectively splitting the the Empire… Assuming the homeworlds of those pro-Primarch regiments also declare for the Primarchs. The Imperial fleet is also going to have to split up as well – yes, marines have their own transport and warships, but I don't think they have alot of ships of the line. I'm guessing that there will be an unseemly fight over the Emperor's near-corpse. Unless the Custodes and perhaps the Grey Knights say, forming a third faction securing the Imperial Palace and Terra from both sides – would provide a use for all those Custode's models they've just produced… It would be interesting to see them fleshing out the Church militant a bit more than just SoB. I'm sure older fluff made references to Imperial Cult militias and the like. If they're smart, they done the plot arc, and have already commissioned an author(s) for a series of books. Adeptus Titanicus and Space Marine kicked off interest in the Heresy, but I'd say it was the books that really lit a fire under it. |
