If the MCU and DCEU aren't enough to scratch your itch for superhero blockbusters, looks like 'Deadpool' and 'Cable' creator Rob Liefeld and heavyweight producer Akiva Goldsman will be entering the fray with the more obscure characters (to me at least) from his "Extreme Universe" line-up: link I have to admit I wasn't a big fan of Liefeld's art and considered his style a cheap Todd McFarlane knock-off. More of a Jim Lee fan back in the '90's when some of these ex-Marvel and DC artists left and started their own comic book lines. |

I don't see the need for any superhero movies. As entertaining as they are, it's superficial story telling. |

The superhero genre is not superficial story telling. If done right it does exactly what science fiction is supposed to do and which almost none of it does. In a way Frankenstein and Jekyl and Hyde were super hero stories. They showed something of the character of man that was not easily shown in a story with normal people. The exaggeration made the point more easily understood. They are not any more superficial than anything else that is out there. Watchmen falls easily into this category too. It showed a truth that was easy to show in the genre that would not have been as easy to believe without the super humans in it. That being said I mostly agree with what 28mm Fanatik said about Liefield. He did create some interesting characters that have stuck with the public. He also gave new life to New Mutants, probably the worst selling X title prior to him coming on board. If you look at the sales of New Mutants #85 vs. X-Factor he had something going on. What it was I didn't particularly care for and although I tried to read a couple issues of titles he made for Image I found them all to be mostly pretty lame copies of other things. If the movies get decent reviews I'll give them a shot. I still need to see Dr. Strange, Batman vs. Superman and Suicide Squad though so I might be giving them a shot on Netflix. |

Two of the best superhero movies ever made came out last year alone, 'Captain America: Civil War': link and the scathingly funny 'Deadpool': link And the highly anticipated GOTG2 and 'Wonder Woman' will be released this year. But still, we may be seeing a case of overload here. If you didn't enjoy these then the superhero subgenre just isn't your cup of tea. |

Like all movie Genres It all depends how well you tell the story. |

I'd like to see some superhero storylines where the bad guys just rob banks or fancy balls of the rich and famous, rather than end-of-the-world-or-at-least-this-city stories. I thought Deadpool was good in that smaller scale story regard. |

Liefeld is a terrible artist, but he's a great designer. Especially when he's making pastiches of existing characters. I'd like to see a Youngblood movie |

Meh. Seen some, enjoyed some of those but it is an area rapidly becoming oversaturated with mediocrity. |

I'd be very interested in another comic book franchise, if only just for competition. Sadly, there does not seem to be a T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents or Fightin' 5 movie in the offing, nor a sequel to Dredd. Oh, well… |

Liefeld's best work in the past twenty years was his cameo appearance in the Deadpool movie. "Hey, Rob!" |

I'd much rather see a series on DC Comics G.I. Combat (Haunted Tank and Sgt. Rock, etc.). That would be of much more interest to me. Unfortunately I fear I would be the only one in the theater. |

Super hero stuff and nonsense is for kids, that's why I play with toy soldiers instead. |
