At last got round to converting Dark Fable Egyptian child miniature into a young David v Goliath.
Plan on Chariot Rampant battle with Hebrew v philistines. thought dual could take place at start of battle like leader challenge.
Just need to work Ark of Covenant into rules/points.

Love your blog, I'd love to do a skit using harps similar to the dualing banjos scene in Deliverance, very Monty. My favourite biblical army is the early Assyrian (2 horse chariots only) love the dismounted siege element of bowman in full armour and his second holding the big shield as they shoot at the defenders while the siege engine demolish the walls.

Looking good

And if you believe Malcolm Gladwell, Goliath never had a chance

Sorry to burst your bubble but I don't David was a boy when he fought Goliath. Consider the following,

When David fought Goliath, he was already the armor-bearer to King Saul, and he was appointed to that position because of the way he soothed Saul. He was chosen to soothe Saul because he was "skillful in playing, a mighty man of valor, a man of war, prudent in speech, and a handsome person; and the Lord is with him" (1 Samuel 16:18). This implies that he was already an adult. Although he is referred to as a "youth" when he went to fight Goliath, the same Hebrew word in is later used to describe David's son Absalom when he was leading a military coup against David.

Marcus Brutus….spoiling my fun :) I say. Joking aside…Castaway Arts David to go with this Goliath model, is older and more fitting with what you say.
This model I did is more 12 to 13 years old and possibly the youngest David would have been at this time.
I just like he idea of the young shepherd boy. Seems more epic like movies and popular imagination.

Have you tried the Tribal rules for this type of warfare? I've been using them for my Sea Peoples games, along w/ some Trojan War, and they really are a lot of fun and get the feel right.

"Goliath of Gath, with hith helmet of brath,
Wath theated one day, upon the gween gwath,
When up jumped young David, a thervant of Thaul,
And thaid 'I will thmite thee, although I'm tho thmall'."

Inthidentally… sorry – Incidentally, the Books of Samuel etc are usually considered (except by fundamentalists) to be compiled from more than one source, often with differing and even contradictory details…

Tribal rules would good for the period I imagine. Not tried them.

David holds Goliath's sword as a trophy, Goliath's head is mounted on a pike behind, Abner is presenting David to King Saul. Had lots of time to study this painting.
