Happy New Year all!
getting back to Battlesystem 2nd ed. after a long layoff.
I am planning on doing a siege game in the From the Ashes Greyhawk setting and wondered how long you guys make you r wall sections? I am thinking of 8-inch (I play 25mm) but was looking for some feedback from experienced siege players.
Cheers!
Ed

Have not run many siege games -- yet. Planning to do a siege of a city, by an Undead army of mostly skeletons. I plan on portraying a section of the city's walls running the length of my Ping Pong Table: around 9 feet long. The Undead will set up on one side of the wall, with the defenders on the other side. The wall will be offset, rather than in the middle of the table, as the defenders will not need much room behind the wall, while the Undead will need quite a bit of room in front of the walls, to stage, and maneuver.

Not certain my rambling helps, but there it is.

If you mean, how long is each wall section model? Well, that is easy: I use Fat Dragon Games Castle set, to model my walls: 8-inches per long section, and so far, I have only used long sections. Cheers!

Thanks for the reply Sgt.
Eight inch wall sections was what I was after so I am going to run with that.

Also, loved the frost giant idea. I have shamelessly stolen it and am putting the finishing touches on mine. I don't have a web page so I am not sure how to post pictures of them.

There are several sites that will host your photo's, free of charge. Google Photos, is one; there is also a host of free blog sites -- Google's Blogger is a good example. Then you can put an image link in your posts, here, which will pull them from the source, to show here.

Frost Giants? You are referring to my suggestions to use 60mm Viking figures painted as Frosty's? I just reverse-engineered what Gary Gygax likely used, back in 1974-1977, as per the Monster Manual sizes, and figures available… Glad you found it useful. Love to help others find retro options…

I love the sizes/ratios that Gygax created. He had some really great stuff which is largely overlooked/ignored, today. His wargamer roots really came through in the original Monster Manual. I am thoroughly enjoying exploring his creature ratios, on my tabletop. He was very talented in that respect.

Really looking forward to seeing your future posts… That is a hint! Do I need to be more obvious? LOL! Cheers!

Thanks Sgt. I will check into Google photos this week.
I found a bucket of Vikings at my FNHS which I morphed into my frost giants. Tossed in a couple of arctic wolves, a polar bear and a mammoth for flavor. I am trying to get a game in this weekend with them so I will get some pictures

Fantastic! Looking forward to seeing your figures in action…

I did the same with some white plastic wolves. However, I added a wedge-shaped piece of textured plastic, to make their frosty breath weapon come to life. Here is a link to my blog page which shows how I did it, only I used the same techniques for the fiery breath of Hell Hounds. Link-1, Hell Hounds. Link-2, Winter Wolves. Link-3, Vikings turned into Frost Giants. Here is an image of my setup for a future game of G2: Glacial Rift of the Frost Giant Jarl:

Very impressive work! Where did you get the Wooly Mammoth? The Winter Wolves look quite good, as do the Bears. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

Thank you Sgt.
I got them from a craft store Michael's. They always have coupons so it is a regular trip on my lunch breaks.
The figures are made by safari Ltd. and you can get them on Amazon as well. They are big however. The wolves are about the size of a horse for the frost giants.

I am hoping to get a game in next weekend where the shameness Silja and her reindeer make a run for it through a goblin ambush. I will get some pictures if I can pull it off.
