A New Year; a brand new pile of miniatures to buy!

With enthusiasm at a peak, what new projects are you itching to get started on this year?

For me it's WWII 20mm Iraq and Syria. This ones going to require quite a bit of research beforehand though.

Off the top of my head I want to purchase: 15mm Carlist War from Warmodelling, 10mm Magister Militum Early WW1 and 15mm Khurasan Late 16th Century Spanish sooner rather than later. I still have plenty of projects already purchased (and many already started) that I need to complete.

No. THIS is the year that every army is of playable size and has suitable rules. No doubt there will be a few stray castings, and I'm still short a few units. But there will be no new projects until the existing projects are good to go. If I manage that, it will be a busy year.

English Civil war, scale undecided but either 3mm, 6mm or maybe 10mm.

Also want to get back into 15mm Russian civil war.

WSS in 6mm or 15/18mm size but not until June. Too much else to do before then…

I plan on doing more trenches for my Vimy Ridge game, then finish off my Calpe Prussians, approximately 100 left to paint.
After that finish off several Front Rank units for my Burgundian army and once they are done, start my late Roman army.

cavcrazy03 Jan 2017 7:17 p.m. PST

Crimean war British.

I'm finally getting around to doing WW1 in Mesopotamia. Just ordered the imperial forces (10mm Pendraken) and will get the ottomans when they are done.

No definitely not, oh wait did I just order something from Hydra?

I will finish my Big Battle DBA Roman army, then finish painting my Austrian division and paint a French division for Drums and Shakos Large Battles, so I can host a game at a convention. I have started my new blog: link and will learn how to make a photo booth, shoot and edit videos ( a 'how to play DBA 3.0 is my goal), and practice writing for my blog.

As usual, I have so much stuff I want to do but know I shouldn't.

I bought a box of Perry plastics ACW infantry. We'll see how that works out--I've never done plastics before (except Airfix and Matchbox). I also got a great deal on twenty some gladiators. I'll need some rules and a stadium, but, shucks, I might even be able to paint these up in a month and be ready to go.

The best new project I am considering is cutting the number of figures I have in half!

Yes, half.

Of course, that is a lot of sawing…badump!

Almost finished the rules for my Amish Rake Fight game. The figures are painted and most of the buildings are done. I should have a first game in the early spring.

Going to do some 28mm WW2 for Battlegroup WW2 games. And finish up my 20mm WW2 for BG WW2 games.

Finally getting around to painting up my 28mm Samurai so I can use them in both Ronin and Lion Rampant.

Painting up my 1/600 Russo-Japanese War ships.

Finishing the initial Danger Zone air combat rules and putting them on Wargame Vault.

Working on the UFO inspired add-on for Danger Zone (though I won't likely finish that until 2018).

Completing more of the miniatures for my as yet unannounced super special project that I've been slowly building for the last year and am very excited about.

Finally re-launching my dragon miniatures kickstarter with the miniatures re-sculpted and scaled for 28mm.

Possibly painting all the extra bits I bought to complete my already well established British, American and German 28mm World War II armies.

parrskool04 Jan 2017 8:50 a.m. PST

Selling off all my 20mm WW2 vehicles, figures, scenery, etc

leidang04 Jan 2017 1:25 p.m. PST

The way I acquire my 15mm ancients armies is by buying painted figs on e-bay when I get good deals and then eventually when I have enough for a very large army (say 500-600 figs) I pull them out and start rebasing them and touching them up to my standards. I've reached this point with both Saracens and Mongols. I've just started on the Saracens and have the leader stands and most of the spear and foot done. After that comes the Mongols and then I get back to finishing my custom terrain boards for my 15mm Mogadishu game (Here are some pics with just a ground cloth).

My newest project is to paint and base, once and for all, two entire armies of the oldest miniatures that I own – Grenadier, Partha, and Der K fantasy that I bought between 1975-1979.

Howler04 Jan 2017 4:25 p.m. PST

Yep, getting into the new Walking Dead All Out War game. Looks fun. Also getting ready for a Blood Bowl league. X-Wing will continue as ongoing fun

I got money from my kids for Christmas, so I bought some Hinterland minis. New figures, new units, but fitting into existing projects.

boy wundyr x06 Jan 2017 9:26 a.m. PST

The only honest-to-god brand new projects (starting from ground zero) *might* be Old West and Three Musketeers with Blue Moon figures. Maybe some cinematic WSS skirmish since I just got a bunch of Sharp-esque WSS novels for Xmas.

Old Contemptibles10 Jan 2017 1:23 p.m. PST

No.

I haven't finished the ones from 2012 yet.
