Would you be interested in seeing Hoka Hey! (rules covering Indians of the Plains – 1850-1890, formerly available from Peter Pig) released in a new edition? * yes * no * I'm happy with the old edition * I don't know anything about Hoka Hey! |

I don't know anything about H.H either, but I would like a good rule set for the Indian Wars on the Plains. Joep |

I have a rule set that meets my needs/desires already. No interest. |

"Hoka Hey" was the predecessor of "Hey you in the jail". Hoka hey means "a good day to die". It used figures in bases of 3 with a few individuals as leaders. A new version of the western rules will be worked upon at the end of 2017. A long time I know, but it will give players a game with a higher level of grouping than the normal skirmish. The forces will be about 100 a side. It will not stray on to the usual western gunfight "territory" which is very well covered. martin

Martin, this sounds interesting. Will the new rules be suitable for Indian vs. cavalry actions as well as civilian "range wars"? |
martin goddard | 03 Jan 2017 7:04 a.m. PST |
Yes indeed David. I would expect players to control about 4 "units" martin |

My understanding is that Peter Pig rules are based on "Square Bashing" concept – never played or read, second hand verbal reporting – which is something new to me. Are these rules based on the same concept or more traditional measured movement? No one has them locally it seems but I always try new rules at conventions and these might be fun as a one shot. |

Square Bashing is one of their rule sets, but not all of their rules are based on that, or even on a grid. |

Does this mean a new/revamped range of Plains Wars/Western minis from Peter Pig? |

Excellent news Martin, looking forward to them already :) |

I might be interested. The scale sounds right. It really depends who the Indians are handled. If they are treated as any other army then nope. That's why I enjoy Yellow Ribbon and Pony Wars. Indians do not react like US Army units. Thanks. |

The rules are along way off. As to the way different forces behave, don't worry, PP systems are very period specific. There won't be mention of factions or massive world coverage. The set would likely cover 1830 to 1880 in America? Anyway the next project coming along is SCW after the publication of Vietnam in January 2017. thanks martin |

In the original edition of 'Hey You in the Jail' the Indians are of the Hollywood variety: they get a plus one for attacking. |
