Hi Everyone and a very Happy New Year to you all.

This holiday has seen me finish two armies that I have waited a long time to complete. First Age Noldor and Sindar Elves and the Host of Angband. They have been collected over a very long time and are all Tom Meier figures except for the odd Mithril, Grenadier, Heritage and Blue Moon figures. It's great to have them banded together at last.I hope my painting has done them justice.Of course I committed the lunacy of deciding to rebase them all on round bases, but I think they look better for it and fit in with the Strategy Battle Game conventions now. Of course nothing is ever finished. Gothmog the Balrog leads the Angband forces, but where is Glaurung?

I think I will have to look for the Mithril wingless dragon in the near future. Also I have some Eagles to paint.

Hope you guys like my efforts. Comments and crits welcome. There are more pictures on the blog.

Beautiful work! Tom Meier is one of the best, and your paint jobs look great. He also sculpted some dragons, maybe one of them would suit for Glaurung…

Lovely, I have a handful of these but would like more, are they still in production anywhere?

Thanks Guys for the appreciation. Timbo, only late last year did all of these pretty much get Kickstarted by Ral Partha as the Chaos Wars range. Here is a link.

Aren't a couple of those old Citadel figures too?

The Sea Elf with Two Handed Sword and the Sea Elf with Axe?

I loved those figures and wish I had some to paint now… :(

Brings back a lot of memories from the 70s and 80s to see Tom Meiers Elves and orcs. Very cool!

I got rid of mine many years ago … The nice thing is that they are still quality figures after all of this time.

Have to concur with you Terrement. It's good to see them back. Personally I don't think that the Elves have been bettered, but do understand that scale creep means that some people want to have larger figures these days.Out of the Elves series there were enough figures to make rank and file as well as some figures to be heroes and command. Some would say that some of the poses are too static, but that's a matter of choice.

What amazes me is just how prolific Tom Meier was around this time. The huge amount of figures he did is quite staggering.

Bindon, the Ral Partha line was licenced to Citadel in the late 70s for a while so that's the reason these guys have two manufacturers cited.

Yeah, Partha's figs are incredible! They really maintain the quality standard even all these years later. I was over at Iron Wind recently. Those figs are just as impressive to me now as back in the 70's and 80's. I own some Elves, Undead, Greeks (it's a large army), some Persians and Medieval Knights. I have some other figs from them like Colonials.I have 36 mounted knights from a big set they were selling along with the large Chaos set. Always wanted the chaos one too. I will be picking up more Elves and some more Undead at some point.

Thanks.

Kropotkin I have a couple of those old Tom Meiers elf on eBay now and in the uk :)

You even have a Balrog leading Angband's forces. Awesome! More fantasy wargames ought to be set in Beleriand.

I still have a couple of those miniatures. I even painted the Elf princess the same way you did.
