I am looking for 25/28mm figures that will work for United States Infantry for use for the Plains Indian Wars, does anyone know who may make these or have a similar product? |

Foundry makes (made?) them. Look at Artizan as well. Edit: I don't see them on Foundry's site. |

How does Artizan figures match up with Old Glory 25mm, size comparison? |
Atomic Floozy | 01 Jan 2017 4:04 p.m. PST |
It depends on the range you are trying to match. Artizan's French Colonials match closely to Old Glory's Boxer range. Whereas Old Glory's Dark Africa range is huge. I don't know about dismounted U.S. troops for the Plains Wars, but the Artizan Cavalry matches up ok size-wise with the few figures I have from Old Glory's Warpaint range. The style is quite different. Old Glory is a bit more Hollywood in style than Artizan or Foundry. |

Can you get Artisan in the United States? |

I thought Brigade sold artizan figures in the US. That may have changed since I last purchaed some years ago. |

Yeah they do but I don't think they sell the range I need. |

Foundry has them under "Old West" figures. They are Custer and the Seventh Cav. by Copplestone. I have the dismounted figs. They are nice and come in dismounted and mounted. There are Plains Indians by Copplestone there, also. |

Lon sells the Artizan Infantry: link The sculpts are very good: they're equipped with the trapdoor Springfield and correct ammunition belts for the 70s. |

Those are cavalry figures, not infantry figures. |

Brigade Games has them in the Western section of the Artizan Designs Category: link The Plains Infantry: link |

These Artizan figures are carrying infantry rifles, but seem to be wearing "carbine" slings over their right shoulders; carbine slings were issued to cavalrymen to hook to their carbine's saddle rings (on the left side of the stock), but never (as far as I know) to any infantry. Also they appear to be about 6-12 inches shorter that their builds would suggest. Their mess hall must really be serving up feasts each day for them. |

Cavalry Carbine slings?! That is one weird assumption to jump to on the basis of seeing some cross-body straps. Plains infantry were issued a canteen and a satchel-type haversack. It would be a far more reasonable assumption that these are what the straps are for. And turning these figures around, we find: a canteen and a haversack. No extraneous cavalry-issue weirdness going on at all. Very good figures – Artizan means Mike Owen sculpting and Mike Owen is of the 'chunky 28' school. But I'm not aware of any others except OG, and their ranges vary too widely in style for me to buy unseen. I'm very happy with the Artizan ones. |

The straps are puzzling, though. The mannequin display of an infantryman at Ft. Davis has all of the straps and bedroll coming over the left shoulder. They are not the carbine sling as it was wider and also came over the left shoulder.. But you are correct about the canteen and haversack being slung over the shoulder. |

I have both the Foundry and the Artizan western frontier infantry and there are no carbine slings. They mix well together. Foundry's infantry figures are a bit larger than their cavalry figures. I am rather particular and have no problem with the infantry being a bit larger than the cavalry as they are different units and you don't notice it. These are both for the 1870s and/or 80s. The Foundry are no longer on their website, but if you can get the catalog number, I have read they will cast them for you. If you are willing to do 1860's infantry in the west, civil war infantry figures will work. For that time, I use Old Glory in light marching order. No knapsacks on their backs. Some of the figures are ramming cartridges down the barrel, so those would not work for after the middle of the summer of 1867 when the Alin conversion trapdoor came in. But I just don't use those particular figures when I am running a scenario then. For my cavalry figures for that earlier period I use Sash and Saber. Tom |

Here is the "page" link where you can find all of the Artizan plains infantry figures: link There are two infantry packs (4 each), a command pack (3), and a Gatling gun with crew (2 plus gun). Jim |

Thanks for all the help. Still curious if the Old Glory 25mm Warpaint range will mix well with the Artisan US plains infantry. If anyone knows that would help. |

If someone can point me to a photograph of the Old Glory 25mm union infantry with slouch hat and light equipment I would appreciate it |

Nevermind I found a picture from the OF website. |
