As it says on the tin – what are their strengths and weaknesses and are they a good tournament army (they really aren't in FoG:R!!!)? Looking primarily at 1809 or 1812, not the 1814 version with cuirassiers, lancers etc. |

They are French with pretty cornflower blue. Everything is average. |

They are a little lacking in cavalry options but that is not necessarily a deal breaker. Nothing wrong with the cavalry they do have and their infantry/artillery is fine (if unspectacular). They also look good. Martin |

If you aren't picky about the list not being too historically based, the 1815 army is quite good having played against one. Infantry are the same, artillery is a little less in that you don't get the option of a large unit, cavalry is about the same but you get Uhlans for extra colour! Main benefit is the guard shock heavy cavalry unit that you can get. Guard cavalry is the best troop type in the game so the chance of getting one shouldn't be overlooked. |

I play 1809-1813 Bavarians and they are just average as already mentioned. They are at least classed as 'Reformed' to make them competitive. I've also tacked on French cavalry brigades as allies if I want to give them more punch. I'm not sure if that's technically allowed, but it's historically feasible. At worst they'll at least look good. |

Thanks, chaps. Some food for thought there. |
