No nominations for Tank with James Garner?

No nominations for Tank with James Garner?

You just did. Never heard of it though.

I wouldn't nominate Patton, for two reasons.
1. It's a biographical movie, not really about tanks.
2. Everybody bitches about Wrong Tank Syndrome. In fact there are idiots who whine that seeing whatever is used tarted up to look like a Tiger ruins the movie for them.
Ditto Battle of the Bulge, but mainly because it's a terrible movie.

Dynaman878901 Jan 2017 6:33 a.m. PST

Tank is the story of a guy who takes his private tank on a little rampage through a corrupt official's town (county?). Entertaining little film.

I have to give Fury the nod – not due to it being a good film as such but for having the best tank battle SFX.

The episode of Band of Brothers with the UK armor units helping them gets a nod, as well as the one where the US tanks fight the German tank destroyers.

Featuring tanks, it's hard not to include Cross of Iron or Stalingrad, both of which portray tanks as terrifying monstrosities.

pmwalt01 Jan 2017 8:34 a.m. PST

Fury, A Bridge Too Far, Sahara (40's version), various episodes from Band of Brothers

A pre-World War 2 recruitment movie called "Here Come the Tanks!" and "Caught in the Draft" with Bob Hope, showing pre-war vehicles and a humorous demonstration of how tank commanders communicated with other crew members inside the vehicle…

Others not mentioned yet:

*The Bridge At Remagen

* El Alamein : The Line of Fire (2002)
(brief tank scene, but the nighttime attack with headlights is quite dramatic)

* Girls und Panzer, der Film

* Storming Juno

* Tankova Brigada

PCS Dane02 Jan 2017 3:34 a.m. PST

Second Tankova Brigada!

Mostly because it actually has real German equipment, incl. PzIVs and StuGs in it! :-)

A bridge too far
Thomas the tank engine the movie.

Mike O02 Jan 2017 5:30 p.m. PST

Lebanon (2009) – set almost exclusively inside an Israeli Sho't MBT (renamed and modified British Centurion) in the 1982 eponymous conflict. Has the same claustrophobic quality as Das Boot.

The Beast and Fury also have a similar quality. White Tiger is something very different and fantastical but very engaging too.

Ivan DBA02 Jan 2017 9:44 p.m. PST

The Batman episode with the gold Stuart.
