Have you tried mixing acrylic paint with it to make ot green?

Now there is a good idea. One thought to consider – perhaps use a piece of glass as your base to get a nice, flat bottom for the pieces. Won't allow the air drying referred to but I think it will still work.

One question for OP: how strong is the caulk holding the pieces in place? Anything falling out yet?

I wonder if this can be adapted to really tall trees, canopy trees? I am sure it can work to create some effective trunk structures which really say "jungle".
