Grenadiers a Cheval, Empress Dragoons, Chasseurs a Cheval. Plus a few thoughts on figure ranges, colours etc. Enjoy! link |

I found your text particularly interesting. Adding the plastic pelisses is a great idea. I only did it for the officer. You are right, the red bag would have been covered in a black cover once tucked in when not in use. I so agree with you about the lack of full dress Guards cavalry esp the Grenadiers and the Dragoons. The surtout is just not the same…. If only front Rank modelling matched the quality of their castings for most cavalry figures. They are stocky indeed! Sounds like the next lot will be something to look forward to. Don't forget those Gendarmes and Mamelukes! Garde d'Honneur on my to do list….but need a bit of work to convert from plastic hussars. Swop sides for the shako flounders and where to find that eagle plate in front? Tricky. Neck down is a paint job, you are right |

Thanks all! Some good points Liam (dh). See also the interesting comments added by Peter (Gonsalvo) on my blog post at the bottom. The Pelisses I added were metal by the way – extras sent by Alan Perry, very good of him! Gendarmes and Mamelukes, I've been thinking of adding a few of each will be added to boost numbers of Horse Grenadiers and Chasseurs, plus some more Chasseurs as there were more of them than any of the other regiments. Gringo 40 seem to make nice 28mm Mamelukes, hopefully they are compatible? link I also want their Murat figure… Garde d'Honneur, yes I don't think the headgear conversion will be too difficult given they are plastic, but at least it is not a huge uniform difference in the worst case. |
