Are the only source of income for the owners. I assume companies like Warlord, Perry and Games workshop. But what about others? Say Front Rank, they seem to have a decent turnaround. They are big enough that they remove VAT when ordering outside of the UK. But are they big enough that the owners only have that as a source of income? What about the people down under Eureka? etc etc. |

Me and my wife Jo run Oathsworn Miniatures; that's our only source of income. I wouldn't call us big, though! |

I wonder if EM4 is a full-time gig for Doug? Of course there's also his game supply company and Moonraker, but they're all game entities. Prince August probably is also. |

I would assume EM4 is full time – Doug used to own a model shop in Liverpool in the 70s so I assumer it's a continuation of that. Garrison was never full time. I took it on in the first place to safeguard my own supplies and every penny was then recycled back to make new moulds, etc. |

Sole in me source is rare. Besides the love of miniatures most companies were started as a tax shelter. It is easier to name companies whose owner has a normal job. 19th Century/Battlehonors is one that I am pretty sure is a sole nco me. Many have periods of sole income before returning to a combo position. |

Ïntresting info, seems like I overestimated the needed size for a miniature company to be self-sufficient. |

And a fine set of miniatures as well! I agree – a fine set that I WILL get around to painting one day. Why, thank you, Ed and Tony! :) Ïntresting info, seems like I overestimated the needed size for a miniature company to be self-sufficient. The big costs for a minis business are sculpting, and moulding/casting. If you do one (or both!) of those yourself, that makes a huge difference. |

To be fair, I have no mortgage and no kids to put through University so my wife and I don't need to earn a lot of money now… Mike |

I assume companies like Warlord, Perry and Games workshop. Regarding Games Workshop, that has been a PLC since 90's or so, meaning that the ownership is spread amongst quite a number of shareholders, who do not participate in the day-to-day running of the company. I would think that most of the shareholders have also other sources of income. However, for many of the employees the GW salary might be their only source of income. |

Privateer Press must be making money but a lot like GW. CMON minis is becoming a new profitable player with all their million dollar kickstarters. I would think Zombicide has really been a great seller for them. They also own Dark Ages and probably other stuff. |
