I thought I'd plug my Winter War scenario guide while there is still snow on the ground—it makes for some excellent holiday gaming! The rules are nominally for Troops, Weapons & Tactics, but really could be used for any skirmish or company-level game. The 25-page article includes full platoon-level TO&Es for Finnish infantry, Jaegers, dismounted cavalry and ski-bound Sissi guerillas, as well as rare 1939 organizations for Soviet rifle platoons, mountain infantry, mechanized infantry and VDV airborne (yes, there were airborne missions during the Winter War!). There is also a solid overview of the historical context and situation, tactics and strategies used by each side, environmental conditions (including relative snowfalls, daylight hours, temperatures and terrain for each major front at each stage in the war). There are stats given for the equipment used on both sides, compatible with Chain of Command, IABSM and TW&T. Finally, there is a great scenario you can play—the infamous "Sausage War"! You can find the article in this year's TFL Christmas Special: link |

This is an excellent Christmas special from Too Fat Lardies, well up to their usual standard of quality. That is no just the Winter War articles, but the whole "magazine." This is well worth the price! Buck Surdu |
