"Photographs have begun to appear on the internet showing the first flight of the second prototype Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC)/Shenyang FC-31 ‘Falcon Eagle' fifth-generation fighter.

Compared to the initial prototype, the second FC-31 — sometimes known as the FC-31V2 — features extensive revisions, apparently including a revised, F-22-style forward fuselage including single-piece cockpit canopy, and re-profiled tailfins.

Previous rumors suggested that a second FC-31 prototype might have been adapted to meet PLAAF requirements, perhaps leading to a production-standard J-31…"

Looks very similar to a certain USAF jet.

WVR engagements, when and if they occur are certainly going to be a bit confusing, with so many similarly shaped aircraft about.

Hope those HUD cues and AWACs can help keep them sorted in a furball.

Can definitely see the F-22 influence. Also looks like a PAK-FA/T-50 but with smaller wings. I keep reading that the Chinese weren't looking to use the -31 domestically due to its limited range….but its range can't be worse than a J-10's, right? I would think they would slowly introduce some -31s to fill the same role as the J-10, just with the advantage of stealth. Makes it easier to market the product for export when you actually use it yourself.
