I'm looking to start building 20mm WW2 armies but all my terrain is 15mm. Does anyone have a favourite source of 20mm houses? There seems to be plenty of 1/72 for model trains but they are very expensive.

For MDF try Blotz and Charlie Foxtrot models, some great stuff ideal for wargaming. Why not make your own from foam core? the interweb is your friend here.

I generally use 15mm buildings for my 20mm games. Especially some of the newer ones. You might want to see how that looks before you spend a lot.

Thanks Pzivh I'll try that first.
Foam core good tip thanks Tactical.

Unless you are playing skirmish games, the ground scale covered by 15mm building should work fine. For skirmish gaming, the use of 20mm or even larger buildings are better.
There are several companies doing 20mm or 1/72 buildings.
Four ground is only one. Plastic raft is another and reasonable. A few others have a few. You might check PSC as well.

As ever my answer is the Airfix trackside range – now made by Dapol :

Got a church, a pub., a windmill, a thatched cottage, a town house, some large sheds, a war memorial, a station building…

about £6.00 GBP each.

Total Battle makes amazing resin buildings and terrain specifically for 20mm.

While I wish I had time to make my own, I simply don't. I have to choose my time between cleaning and prepping figures and painting them. So, unfortunately (o fortunately), I have to spend money on the terrain. For price, I love Total Battle.

20thmain's suggestion brings me back to my war game beginnings. The Country inn was our mainstay building for many battles.

I go almost exclusively with Sentry and Lancer resin buildings. The detail is fantastic and I just like the structures to be heavier so they don't move around during play. They aren't cheap but when I switched over to 20mm a few years ago I decided that this was my ultimate WW II collection and was going to go all out.

While they mostly off other scales 4ground has some 20mm stuff

I would suggest Plastcraft Games (PVC). plastcraftgames.com/en Well priced and good selection. 4Ground (MDF) link are also nice but a bit more expensive (very slightly bigger then plastcraft but useable). Italeri (Hard Plastic) 1/72 line is limited but also a good value but maybe slightly out of scale (similar to 4Ground). You can have a look at my blog there is a a lot of 20mm buildings there for WWII link

These will all work for WWII skirmish with separate floors and removal roofs etc etc

Plast-craft are very good for Northwest Europe, and Pegasus Hobbies have some very useful (and economical) Russian houses.

Total Battle Miniatures, seconded.

Greebs25 Dec 2016 5:48 p.m. PST

I'd also add Star Fort miniatures (MDF) and Laser Modelbau (Resin, German, Early War Miniatures stock a small number of their buildings, plus one or two of their own).

Maxshadow26 Dec 2016 2:41 a.m. PST

Thanks everyone. My googling didn't turn up any of these companies.

I'm fortunate enough to have some scratchbuilt pieces from Mick Sewell, head over to my Facebook page, Wargameroz's 20mm Ramblings, it's just about 20mm WW2 and post war, but you need to ask to join, keeps the spammers out
