Hello from cold and grey Germany,

I'd like to briefly introduce my small miniatures company "Stoessi's Heroes". If, for some reason, I am violating forum rules, please let me know.

So, Stoessi's Heroes is a small range for WW2 character miniatures for 28mm wargaming that I founded about a year ago. Currently, the range is REALLY small with only 7 minis available, but it is going to grow to about 30-40 models in the next few months.

Current Range
Late War Schütze Otto:

Glider Infantry PFC Miller:

US Officer Donny Drumpf:

Canadian Highlander Sergeant Harold A. Marshall:

Soviet Sniper Liudmylla Pavlichenko:

British Paratrooper General Roy Urquhart:

German Officer Hans L.:

Sneek-Peek for January 2017
Major Carlyle:

Lt. Col. Frost:

More background here: link

And finally, a little quiz… let's see who can guess which other miniatures are planned:

* A British Paratrooper that brought a very special friend with him to Market Garden
* One US Airborne who led them all the way to Hitler's home
* Another US Airborne who led the most epic charge on Carentan
* A German Panzer Ace that inspired the character of Oddball
* A Japanese Officer that held out longer than everyone else
* A remarkable British gentleman from the North-African theatre
* And a deadly and determined woman that gave the Germans a lot of grief
* A sceptical Pole
* An american pilot with a special thing for bazookas

Cheers,
Thomas

A lot of character there, and Drumpf made me laugh. Couldn't you have made his hands smaller?

Great looking figures. A lot of character. Good luck with your upcoming growing business.

Good luck with your miniatures range, Thomas!
Looking forward to the upcoming personalities – although I don't really know whom to expect ;-)

And for all who didn't know yet:

Wow those are really expensive figures. Nice looking but way to expensive.

Excellent sculpts but agree with DJ: expensive.

Y'all are a bunch of cheapskates. Maybe even skinflints.

A mini that you only expect to sell ONE per customer simply doesn't have the demand to drive down prices. It's basic economics.

And these are cheaper than Infinity minis, for example. I'm really tempted to get the Soviet sniper girl.

It's not a question of being 'cheap'; if I want a 'one off' figure for display I purchase a 54mm (or larger figure), build it, paint it, base it and put it in the display case.

Personally, I purchase wargame figures to game with: again the sculpts are nice but (for me) expensive.

I… I think I might have found a 'principle'…

I feel My lip curling at the depiction of a serial draft-dodger as a member of the US military.

Is that a principle? Is that what it feels like?

I might just be channelling Elvis…

(I should add, though: really nice sculpts, Stoessi!)

Thanks guys!

Re price: I know that some people feel that Stoessi's Heroes are expensive. And everyone is entitled to their opinion, so no negative comments or feelings from my side. ;)

However, consider a few things:
If a company isn't the size of Warlord Games or Games Workshop and doesn't have the economics of scale due to being able to produce and sell thousands of figures, there aren't many options left. I could go for cheaper sculptors and have sculpts that aren't as nice… This is exactly what I don't want. I WANT nice sculpts, because I am a painter myself and I want to have fun painting them. :)
Maybe I will be able to adjust prices once the range is bigger and I get more traction with resellers, so that I can sell higher quantities. If that is going to be the case, I'd be VERY happy to lower my prices. But for now… as a one-man show with personal money invested, I need to ask the price that you are seeing at the moment.

Merry Christmas all and a Happy New Year!

Skarper26 Dec 2016 11:24 a.m. PST

Following the comments about price I was shocked to see they are only 7-8USD. I'd expected at least double that given the complaints.

Nobody is going to buy more than one of any [unless they are looking to do conversions perhaps].

Give the guy a break! He has to live.

Now – 28mm is not my favoured scale and this style of figure is not my taste, but I can see they are outstanding examples of their genre. I hope they sell well.

The 'greens' of Frost and the umbrella man [taken from A Bridge Too Far] are just amazing.

By the way, I have created a closed group on Facebook where I am posting sneak peeks of upcoming miniatures:
