The only one I know much about is Pilsudski. And having worked with a Polish woman years ago, I can pronounce his name correctly. |

My father met (3) during the war and was very impressed by him. |

Jozef Pilsudski – It is my opinion that without him Poland would either have died between the wars or never been reborn. I have seen him referred to as a dictator and a fascist but he shepherded the nation through its rebirth and defended it against the Bolsheviks. My Grandparents, one came to the US before the First World War and one came after, had a picture of him on their wall until they both passed away. My Grandmother, who survived the fighting around Lublin during the Russo-Polish War, referred to him (in very broken English) as the Polish George Washington. Generals Haller and Sikorski were great men and military heroes, as well, but not in the same category. Both were instrumental in the defeat of the Soviets. General Haller's Blue Army provided the core of the regenerated Polish Army that defeated the Soviets. General Sikorski kept Poland at the table with the Allies during WWII, until he was killed. Both monumental achievements but not the same as what Pilsudski achieved. |

Red Jacket pretty much voiced my views, so yes, Pilsudski. |
