I know it is not safe to have your bank account linked to Paypal, BUT… Is it safe to transfer $$$ from Paypal to your bank account? |

IF you have Paypal link to a Bank account it can deposit and withdrawn from the account. Withdraws are done in 5 minutes and deposits take 4 days. |

Wackmole9, My bank account was attacked via PayPal. Paypal nipped it in the bud, but I removed the link between the two just to be safe. Hence my question, is it safe to transfer money to my bank account from Paypal. |

I initially did not understand that PayPal could do safe and easily all the things whe would expect our bank to do. I'm older and wiser now : Banks are not interested in us, only themselves and our money, and buy the way : they are not even good at that (which they have prominently proven). There is Maffia end there are Banks and Insurance Companies. I'm allready sorry I've written the 2 latter with Capitals… |

I get paid through paypal and transfer it to my bank and haven't had an issue. Here's the thing: Anything at all that is even remotely connected online is always at some factor of risk. I'd gauge that the risk with paypal is minimal but as you note, there's exceptions for the most determined attacker. |

Yes, no problems here. I guess as some may have experienced the hacker is a problem. |

Thanks all, I guess I'll give it a whirl in the near future, beats having to send myself a check from PayPal and then schlep it over to the bank. |

I've never had any problems with PayPal. If some companies on the internet only take charge cards and not PayPal, I usually won't do e-biz with them. |

Thanks for the post. Good question and responses. I doubt that I will ever actually need to transfer money from PayPal to my bank, though. Anytime I get a credit, it is quickly absorbed by purchases. : > / |

Same here, Condotta, but I have resolved to split half my "fun munny" every quarter from Paypal and put into savings instead. This way I can spend, wisely, without guilt AND not have to use the credit card, so almost a triple win. No (or greatly) reduced CC bill, guilt free buying and $$$ in my savings account. |

In Australia we can get a prepaid Visacard from the post office. You put money into it when you want to spend. I have one of these linked to my paypal account so if there is any problem the most that can be stolen is the amount deposited. |

I have had this link for many years with no issue. It is very convenient and more secure than giving out your Card Information to all and sundry. Make sure you have a complex/long password on your Paypal account. When you receive emails purportedly from Paypal, NEVER CLICK ON A LINK, ignore them. If you must check the issue bring up your browser and type in paypal.com and check you get the HTTPS prefix put in front of the URL. Usually you will find no issue. When you buy something with Paypal, you have protection for a number of days (30?). If you do not receive delivery then make a claim to Paypal before that time runs out. You will get a refund. Not much not to like. Pat |

I stopped Paypal years ago. If I remember correctly, they at one time REQUIRED that you link a bank account to your Paypal account and I refused to do so. I don't know if that requirement is still in place. After a few exchanges of 'frank views,' I closed the account. While I was using Paypal (purchases only) I never had a problem with it other than the (to me) intrusive demand to link to my bank account. |

Like Ed Mohrmann, I had to link my Paypal account to a bank account. So I made a small bank account (it was easier way back when) and threw some cash into it. It's separate from my main account. No links anywhere and, in the past decade or so, I've never had any problems. Money in or out in a day. |

Use it regularly. Any emails purporting to come from PayPal are sent straight to their " spoof@paypal.co.uk" email address and deleted without opening. Complex password used since 2002 without any issues, but nothing online is safe, as the Democratic Party can testify. I think the second bank account idea is a good one, but here in UK most banks require a minimum monthly deposit of £750.00 GBP or a £1,000.00 GBP and that means using electronic transfers back and forth to main account, so opens up a small chance of a vulnerability. |

Never had a problem with PayPal and my bank. Nonetheless, I have a third-party account for all my electronic transfers where the automated service goes to X-account (which has no overdraft and zero external authorized outgoing transfers), then I use my bank to transfer from X-account to my "real" accounts. This somewhat isolates the transactions, and only risks the amount of money currently in the X-account, which I clean out regularly. Often, transaction by transaction. |

Thank you, Gentlefolk. Off to the bank this week to create a small account! |
BrigadeGames | 19 Dec 2016 1:48 p.m. PST |
We do it every week at least. Since way back when PayPal was free. Which was quite a while ago. |

Another Brit here with no problems, and yes I have a dedicated account. The bank call it an online saver apparently. Dead easy and so far very safe. |

You can request a check, if you want to pull money out. |

BTW, I can no longer find the "Classic" PayPal page(s), did it disappear or is my Google Fu weak today? |
