Good day. For those that have not seen my blog post yet, I recently ran the Battle of Riachuelo. The Battle of Riachuelo was a steam ship river battle between Paraguay and Brazil during the War of the Triple Alliance.

Interesting game, but realistically the Paraguayans can never win, their artillery was outdated and ineffective

I love the river and scenery , its just how I imagined this battle to be . Do the rules give land based guns any advantage over shipboard guns. There are some variations you could use in this battle, the original plan was to board the Brazilian ships while the crews were sleeping ashore . There were some command and control issues on the Brazilian side where several ships acted on their own initiative outside the control of their admiral. Another plan would be to use the Paraguayan ships shallower drafts to their advantage by anchoring close inshore where they could not be rammed under cover of the shore based batteries.

While I have a collection of this fascinating war I've never seen the naval side done. Very cool! Nice job! Those ships look really nice and the muddy river and terrain worked fine.

I have been looking into the Brazilian Navy since reading your posting. Very interesting! I did not realize it was the 5th largest Navy in the world during this time. Thanks for peaking my interest.
