I wanted to run this by you since I've just started to work on this last night.

I've had for sometime a small number 17 ships total that are from Irregular miniatures and these are flying Pre-Dreadnoughts or something similar.

Anyway last night I got them out and decided to create a new Imperial Skies Fleet Mexico.

The idea stems from 2 things first the Irregular miniatures and second is that Avalanche Press in their Great War at Sea series of games has a Mexican Fleet so I have a fair number of names as well.

So any ideas from you would be helpful also if you like I could send you pictures of the ships so please email me at yamamoto87@hotmail.com and I can send you pictures.

This is still in it's early stages so I'll keep you updated regarding this.

More to follow.

I'm a simple fellow and like simple things…

So my suggestion would be to look at some of the existing fleets and pick stat cards for ships of similar sizes. You could say that the Mexican ships were based off the designs of whatever ship you choose.

Just a thought and easy to get them to the table.

You might be right about that Sean I'll look into that.

Never engage them on taco night!

And never engage them from the rear:)

Are the models Heirs of Manacus and Uranus?

In Irregular's 6mm page (go figure…) link

I'm not sure I have suggestions for the ships themselves, but I've already had notions on campaign set ups, and I'd think Mexican ships would have issues with reliability and stamina, assuming a relatively limited industrial base.

You are correct Doug with regards to the minis.

I'm still working out some of the stuff that you mentioned but if they can get help from another Nation who knows what might happen.

Mexico might be something like the South American Nations with regards to industrial base.

Also it would give something else for the Americans to deal with.

As I said it's a work in progress so I'll keep you posted.

I used the Brigade Italian Models as a Mexican fleet. I always thought that comparatively, Mexico could be a pretty wealthy state, and with the Austro-Italian rivalry, might reach out to Italy after deposing Maximilian. The flags are reusable for both in this scale. The Mexican ships are good quality in my alt-earth, but in small numbers.

I have the Irregular ship models (Thanks Nic and Eureka Minis) but IMHO they don't match well with Brigade, they look like they are a smaller scale by quite a bit, although they are actually very nice models, and for once address the issue that most Aeronef fleets would be utterly destroyed by anyone at a lower altitude (as their weapons couldn't bear).

and for once address the issue that most Aeronef fleets would be utterly destroyed by anyone at a lower altitude (as their weapons couldn't bear).

Which was never an issue in my mind; you don't wait til one is on top of the other to shoot.

Edit: And, 'higher ground' gives you greater range, even if accuracy was poor at this point.

Couple of points, though 'history' in such endeavors is a guide at best, and excuse at worst.

Use of Italian for Mexican: In GWaS's Dreadnought, Hapsburgs had been supplying weapons until 1914. It's partly used as an excuse for a Plan Black: Austrian Style.

Of course, Brits and Yanks supported Diaz while the Boche supplied the rebels. Yeah, freedom-loving Germans! ;->=
